Nice bowler Carter!
I wish I had a whole mess of those 'dummy' heads the seller displayed that hat on. I'd line them up all around the house wearing my hats!
Hi Just_Me,
No, I don't really wear this one. While I do have the size & girth to pull off looking like Oliver Hardy or your friendly turn of the 20th century neighborhood butcher wearing it, I don't find much of a call for doing so! lol lol lol
Welcome to the lounge by the way!:)

1902 Stetson Derby
Well it's finally happened.......a thread that made me get off my butt and dig my Stetson derby out of storage. I’ve been meaning to dig this little treasure out and share it with all of you for some time. It’s one of the few hats I have that I can date to a specific time...
Came across this online.....
Idro after some major modifications............you can see that the only original portion left is the first floor of the portico or carriage entrance.
Nice info Lefty..
Thanks for posting this. Being a fan of old architecture I always wondered what John B's crib looked like. As I understand it, this house no longer exists right? But I believe his Florida mansion still survives.......
According to the sellers ad, he seems to contradict himself.....
"Biltmore midnight blue Canadian Beaver Blend Hat" - then a couple of lines down - "100% WOOL"
I wouldn't pay much more than $13.00 for a "100% wool" fedora myself........
Made him an offer.....
Hey Lefty, I get the feeling someone made the seller "an offer he couldn't refuse" and that's why he pulled the auction early. lol

Hats, Beds, & Badluck
From this website:
"Do not place a hat down on its brim, as it may flatten and lose its shape. Place western cowboy hats upside down on their crown in a clean place. Cowboys believed that this would catch all of the good luck. Old cowboys also believed that you should...

I had one of those a few years back. Exact same hat & lining except mine was done in a 'C' crown. It was my impression that mine dated from the 60's. I remember thinking at the time I owned it that it was a real odd duck. Sold it on eBay about 3 to 4 years ago. Yours is only the...
Just out of curiosity I paid a visit to the Find a Grave website to look up Ol’ John B. Stetson’s gravesite and is it just me or has JB morphed into Buffalo Bill Cody?:eusa_doh:

'Aquanized Stetson'?
In one of the auction pictures of the sweatband does it say 'Aquanized Stetson'? I've never heard that before and assume it meant water-resistant?

That sucks DJ!
At least it looks like the seller accepts returns which, being that it was wrongly sized on their behalf should be a given. If you sell on eBay, I'd say resell it yourself. 7-3/8ths is a popular headsize, you may get more than you paid for it.
Good luck!

Thanks Lefty for the links to those two threads, I must admit that I was already thinking 'Optimo' as they are in my hometown and I plan on visiting there shortly. I read with interest your recent posts about your trip through Indy, Effingham, & Chicago. I was thinking 'small world' seeing as...
