    Justin Roper Question

in my seemingly never ending quest to find the perfect black boots to go with my daily uniform of dickies work pants and tucked in work shirt, here I am again. I've been looking at the Justin Roper lace up boots. My last black boots were Stacey Adams Madison's, they barely lasted a year. How do...

Feet Up! The Work Boot Thread

I posted this in its own thread, but this seems to be a thread about what I'm looking for, so I'll post here too. hey, so I pretty much only wear dickies 874 and the long sleeve work shirt, with the pants up at my belly button. I've got a velour fedora and a newsboy cap. Everything is black...

    40s/50s workwear boots

hey, so I pretty much only wear dickies 874 and the long sleeve work shirt, with the pants up at my belly button. I've got a velour fedora and a newsboy cap. Everything is black and I've dressed this way for two years. I like the 40s/50s workwear look. I have a pair of redwing 877s, but for...

Mens long hair in the 20s-40s

Does anyone have any vintage photographs of men in the 20s-40s with long hair past the shoulders?

    30s glasses

I'm looking to get a pair of wire rim glasses from the 30s or so. I used to have so not-so-round ones I loved, but they got sat on during my early years as a father and totaled. Right now I am wearing 80s military BCG glasses, but stylistically I've outgrown them. I found a place here in...

    Gohn Brothers

I read about Ghon Brothers clothing in an old 70s whole earth catalog, and sure enough the store is still around. I saw a few posts in the archives about them, but from their greater catalog of shorts, coats, boots and pants, does anyone have experience with the products, styles and quality...

    New 501s question

I just went to the levis outlet and tried on some unwashed shrink to fit 501s. I liked the look and fit. I tried searching on here to answer my question but didn't find anything. These are just regular 501s. No xx, or any other designation. The cut seems pretty classic, but my question is how...

    Need hat advice

I don't like buying clothing online because I much prefer to try things in person. I had to try on like 6 hats today before I found one that both looked and felt alright. Honestly, lately I've been really cheap with my clothing, although I have a certain style I look at it as very utilitarian...

    Need hat advice

Ha, well to me, who has gone to great lengths to find pants and shirts in a classic style for $25 each, it's still steep. And for a hat people have warned that it might get nasty easier or not hold up as well... It's still a big investment. There was a wool stetson "crushable" or something like...

    Need hat advice

Searching for my first Fedora I've been reading the forum for information on choosing my first Fedora. I don't have tons of money to invest in the first one, and got some good tips for a beginner one. There were high praises for the Akurba STYLEMASTER, so I went to my local hat shop to check it...

30s/40s industrial style on the cheap

Claudio, I agree... The hair and glasses are important. My hair has gotten unruly this summer, tomorrow I am heading to the barber for a "regular cut." Im also ready to replace my 80s US military "birth control glasses" with some older wire frames like I used to have, before they got sat on...

30s/40s industrial style on the cheap

Oh! The prison blues are great. What an awesome classic look for a great price, and with suspender buttons! These would be great for casual work. Suspenders, a white or black tshirt and some pf flyers. This would be great for yard work.

30s/40s industrial style on the cheap

Those ben's originals are nice, and I love that they offer an option for suspender buttons for an extra $5. I also like the gorilla leg ones, those remind me of old 40s pants if they were long and cuffed.

30s/40s industrial style on the cheap

That term "original fit" is confusing. I tried calling dickies today to find out what year they consider to be "original." They didn't know or wouldn't tell me.

30s/40s industrial style on the cheap

I'm not even looking for anything with this thread, per say. I'm pretty satisfied with a style that is close to the time period I like, and I'm happy with the look. I wanted to share my findings, as I've found it really hard to find simple classic looking work pants that sit at the waist and...

30s/40s industrial style on the cheap

im specifically interested in clothing from american companies that have been around since the wwii era, and specific designs that have hardly changed since then. Does this make sense? Once again, I can wear my MODERN 874s, but when on, they look nearly the same as they would have in the 40s...

30s/40s industrial style on the cheap

Haha, well let me change my date to 1953 to accommodate my red wings. Then my dickies are the closest approximation to the dickies that were available in 1953. Someone has to understand what I'm talking about asking!! Ha

But if I were a worker in 1940 I doubt I would be wearing Scandinavian military clothes.
