Michou -
Deine Pullis sind ja wunderschoen!! Wo hast Du die ganzen Anleitungen her, kannst Du teilen?
I love your sweaters Michou! And I like the way you combine your outfits to be modern, but distinctly vintage inspired. Even love your lace up booties :) Very pretty.
I really think many women may have painted side to side back then, look at this pic, from a 1930's makeup book, showing the nail style to aim for, I guess:
from a 1930s Makeup Book on Ebay I have yet to buy
Oh - according to CityTV here in Vancouver, the green dress coat of Mrs. O., and the long black coat of Pres. O. were bullet proof, that's why the heavy material... The presidential couple wanted to style, walk a bit, and look approachable... they were level 3A proof, which is lighter than the...
How am I not supposed to write ....Bwahahahahahaaaa...nearly lost my Starbucks there.
Rondo, I still like that dress and coat. Scarlett O'Hara made her best dress from curtains. Just goes to show what a practical, innovative woman Michelle is! :) LOL!!
Sorry - if my previous comment sounded too harsh :D It's still true. Like LD said, that hat  belongs locked in a box, or as someone else mentioned, on a Lexus during their Christmas presentation - especially since she is the Queen of Soul! Her presentation was awe inspiring, as...
HAD to look up Isabel Toledo, the designer of her day green outfit... And found her and her husband, Ruben, to be retro inspired, with a slight touch of Morticia and Gomez.

Agree with your entire post, Miss Jeanavive, but this really sums it up.
I'm attached to my cell, but for all previously stated reasons, but I do wish that there was more styling put into them, like vintage compacts. Steampunkish... something more than slick hard plastic, or glass cases. I...
LOL.... I liked it. I think she looked well put together, it suited her. It was solid, but light and cheery, and a touch 60s - ish. In some pics it looks light pea green, and in others it looks yellow. What color was it? The only things off, were the gloves...
Bwahahahaaaaa - I couldn't stop seeing Aretha's hat. Her stylist should be fired. That was way bad.
Michelle's inauguration ball gown was nice, but nothing mind-blowing. She looked comfortable though, and maybe that was what was important to her?
A different lipstick shade might have...
I've always thought her stunning, but I never heard or watched an interview with her. Mike was tough - I cringed at some of the questions he asked! I was really impressed by her self-awareness about her role as an actress in Hollywood, and the roles she played... Most would have tried to upsell...
I just found this site, with Mike Wallace Interviews from 1957 to 1960. I started with Gloria Swanson (done in 1957), and so much of what she said resonated with me - today in 2009!
- do-it-yourself society
- lack of time for each other
- chasing the dollar
- romance has no age, but that...
I work in a small office, and I dress up to motivate myself, to somehow retain professionality. It helps me dealing with clients, vendors, employees. I get more respect dressed nicely, than casual. When I started, my boss did tell me " You don't have to dress up around here," and I stopped...
Just finished "Beyond the Rocks", by Elinor Glyn, and am slowly fighting my way through "Dead Souls" by Gogol. Switching back and forth between that and "An Ideal Husband" by Oscar Wilde.
I love Vicks too. My Mom did that for me when I was a kid, slathered it on my chest... but my Gramma actually used to make me chamomile inhalations...she said it was more soothing than vicks. No fancy inhalation systems though, big pot of hot water, chamomile, towel over my head as I bent over...
Was spoiled last night by TCM, they aired Gloria Swanson and Rudolph Valentino in "Beyond the Rocks". Wow. Once again blown away by wardrobe, interiors...blotchy film segments and sepia tone, and a heart wrenching, tacky love story. I completely understand why Rudolph was the man of the times...
I love this jacket!! Love it. Love the crazy lining too - so cute! I can see that jacket with a black turtleneck underneath, or a nice scarf at the neck. And that quilt is perfect - looks like a lot of work. Mine would have been crooked and all over the place...
Right now, I really like "Certainly Red" by Revlon. Don't mind the mess of hair, I have a bun at the back, trying to see if I should cut it into that length... I love short hair, and I would like to start growing mine out healthy again. So hard to find not ashy face powder, for my skin tone...
Better late than never - I introduced myself in a different thread. :)
I'm Lenah, am 34, live in Vancouver, BC, moved here three years ago from Germany with SO and daughter (where SO and I grew up and my DD was born.). Am crazy about vintage anything, and the more I dig into it, the more...
I posted a reply to this, then deleted it. There were so many "i" in my sentences i hated it lol, made me sound really stuffy and self-centered. Writing on forums is so difficult sometimes, haha
Anyhoo, rambling over - yup, she is awesome!! I first saw this in a late-night show on german TV...
