    Vintage Hunting Clothes

This is a similar Filson (Style 70), still being manufactured as STYLE # 10074. It is the Dry Tin Cruiser with lapels and double shoulder fabric. It is available still in numbered sizes. -Dick

Nice new Filson Lined Work Jacket

The half moon pocket is a front entry into the rear mounted game bag rather than the usual stuffing the bird behind your back. It works very nice and you can keep a roosters tail feathers poking out to say, I got one! I have Filson Hunting Vest, Tin Cloth Hunting jacket and unoiled Tin cloth...

Both my son and I have Russell 'Birdshooters', mine are custom made and my son picked his out of the returns they get for customs that are rejected, all you do is go to the shop/store and try on boots to see if they have a pair that fits, about 1/3 discount. Willis & Geiger - The Full Story?

In researching Military leather jackets, I quickly found out that issued jackets would not fit my body older shape. Willis & Geiger, Eddie Bauer(made in the USA) on the other hand were sized for the contempory older US male. I have a beautiful W&G A2 size 46 that fits to a T. In Eddie Bauer...

Willis & Geiger - The Full Story?

I always wondered why Lands End purchased the brand and killed Willis & Geiger. It doesn't make any economic sense but killing a brand because it is viewed as a competitor does and allowing a brand to die because the original spirit is not involved does make sense to me. Willis & Geiger and...

    1958 Vintage Peacoat

Nice Pea Coat! I don't know how much experience you have with Mid West weather but this winter has been extremely mild and 9F is nothing to speak of. In Wisconsin, temperatures below 0F were routine in the North ans certainly not unknown in the South. I've seen -45F up north and -28F in the...

    Arctic Parka Seal

I would have no problem wearing that here in Wisconsin! Not feminine at all, a beautiful coat!-Dick

    9mm or 45cal

Either 9mm or 45 ACP will be sufficient with hollowpoints, FMJ, then expect the 45 ACP to be a better stopper but that is not the real comparison that is valid. The real comparison is whether you can hit your target consistently in a stress situation with what ever firearm and caliber you...

Were there no 6'2" people born before the 1950's?

Before WW2, wealth was simply much lower and the money to produce and eat foodstuffs was not as great as it was after WW2 which caused the USA to greatly increase manufacturing and food production and ultimately increasing the wealth in the world. Before WW2 people were often hungry...

    Show us your Guns!

I have a number of 1911 Colt's in both 38 Super and 45ACP. I also so have two SIG P229's with SIG Nite Sites and a MK25 on order. I shoot the SIG's better than any other handgun. They have been 100% reliable and if the SAS has Nite Sites so much the better. Take them to a range and decide.-Dick

    Show us your Guns!

Wisconsin enacted three pieces of Legislation last year germane to this discussion. First the ability to obtain a Concealed Carry License if you meet the requirements. The Law does not address a Civil immunity if you act while carrying concealed with a License and I would suspect that neither...

Anyone use or own Wooden Skis?

One last comment. There is growing interest in using outdated methods and equipment in a number of areas of sport. Three that come to mind are skis, Damascus barreled shotguns and silk fly lines. What I believe has happened is that the older user base which had grown up with using these...

    Show us your Guns!

The 'Judge' line and now the S&W 'Governor' seem to be a solution in search of a problem. But it's all marketing and if a niche can be found, profits can be made. For me I'll stick with my SIG P229's and MK25 I have on order.-Dick

Anyone use or own Wooden Skis?

My Alpine skiing started on rental wooden skiis in 1960 or so. Shortly after I graduated to Northland metals and then to Head Super Competition's GS Model. The wooden alpine skiis were no treat and in no way compared to the start of the modern ski. My wife then started XC skiing on a pair of...

"To summarize the above thread, I found two practical options, Mendl from Germany and Limmer in the U.S. Limmer is a custom boot maker in New Hampshire that also sells a line of ready made boots manufa ctured for them by Mendl in Germany." My wife and I have custom Limmer's made for us...

    Show us your Guns!

I love brushed chrome 1911's! I've been looking for a Colt Series 70 Combat Commander 38 Super in brushed chrome in the box to match my blued model for many years but no luck so far. I may just have to order a Kimber!-Dick
