weight gain options, yes you read it right

I do believe they've recently said that eggs aren't full of cholestrol. They always held them up as baddies but have since said, no, go for it. It may be because they feel that eggs are very good nutritionally and so outweigh the cholestrol risks, or they're just jim dandy.

    Plus Size Vintage

I'm surprised by the PUG pics of La Cholita - she must be wearing a corset because her waistline looks very different in this picture: (but she's really cute though!) Speaking of which... Nicole Katherine Designs/Betty Buccaneer do plus size. They go up to 52/44/55...

weight gain options, yes you read it right

Pasta, bread and potatoes did for me. Great way to put on weight! ;) And as such (and some other reasons too), I've recently had a gastric band fitted. Or implanted. Or inserted. **use verb of your choice here** In order for the operation to go safely, there's liquid diet involved...

    Wartime cosmetics archive now online!

I rather like them too! They're great for general vintage eye candy, but also fun to look at in more detail because there's some wonderful things going on in them. At the end of the collection there's photos of the women working in the cosmetics factory!

    Wartime cosmetics archive now online!

(just found this out from a librarian mailing list I'm on. There's some AMAZING photos! You can even see details like the models' "vintage manicures" with bare cuticles, and the reinforced soles of their stockings!) The Visual Arts Data Service (VADS) and the London College of Fashion...

    Show us your vintage hats!

That peach one has an inner metal frame with two bits pointing down on either side which keep it on. but I think I'd need hatpins for a breezy day! I've loved hats since I was little and insisted on wearing a little straw one to church. ;) Vanessa, that eggplant one is lovely! What swagger!

    Petticoats

Amen sister. It annoys me soooooooooooo much when I see petticoats hanging out the bottom of dresses. I don't have a huge amount of success with petticoats myself, though. They have an unfortunate tendency to make my behind look enormous. *it already is enormous!* *shhh! I mean MORE enormous*

The Occult, are you a believer?

There's a very interesting piece on a 1910s ouija board panic in California in this month's Fortean Times, should anyone be interested. I personally think ouijas are dangerous in the wrong hands, because I think it stirs up subconscious things which shouldn't be extruded via a parlour game...

    Setting Pattern Central

Great tutorial - must give it a go! I was schlepping about on ebay looking for curling appliances and found some weird foam ball thing from China, which looks like a spoolie crossed with a tennis ball. It looks like it'd be really comfy to sleep in so I've bought some and I'll let you know how...

    Vintage shopping in Berlin?

There's some good bits about Berlin in the latest issue of Frauleinwunder Magazine (written in English, before you ask!). there look to be some smashing vintage-inspired places. I think there's somewhere called "Marlene & Her Daughter" which looked quite nice.

that's such a nice hat, Hannah! I have a thing for 1950s platter/plate/flying saucer hats.... I recently got another one very much like this but in navy blue. No pics yet, though. And a very lovely white swirly one which again I need to photograph.

    Nothing but Seamed Stockings

You can get 100% silk stockings from Stockings HQ in the UK, made by a French company: http://www.stockingshq.com/cervin-champs-elysees-100-silk-stockings-927-0.html But it doesn't look like they're seamed. :( And some rather horrible hold-ups. Yack...

    Ladies with Really Big Hats
