The Decline of the Well Put Together Lady

You know I was just thinking about this the other day. It was spurred on when my boyfriend received his letter to report to court for his naturalization ceremony for US Citizenship. At the bottom of the letter it reminded him to show up in an appropriate manner of dress to show reverence and...

    Show us what you've made!

I finally got around to downloading a photo of my Christmas 2011 outfit. I made both the dress and the flower clip. The pattern used was the delightful Ceylon from Colette Patterns.

    Red hair and red lipstick

I think first, you have to get used to seeing yourself in red lipstick. I used to think I looked like a clown in any shade but I think I was just not used to the look of red after years of wearing neutrals. A good starter is a brick or wine red. Besame's Red Velvet and Merlot or good choices. I...

    New York New York!

Hey there! I'm a native new yorker and there are so many things to do in addition to the landmark visits. When are you arriving? In answer to your question about vintage clothing, the word around town is that most true vintage is gone and a lot of new items are masquerading as older ones and the...

I love the set so much! And it came together so much faster than I thought it would. My only snafu was in cutting my pieces so the tie ended up on the wrong side of the skirt. Lauren, I'm not sure how old the fabric is. I found it on Etsy and the seller mentioned picking it up in a lot from...

    Cute Vintage-y Shoes

I love those! I have a clone pair in Taupe from Soft Styles by Hush Puppies that are exactly the same. The style is called "Lorna." Super duper comfy too! The only difference is that Soft Styles makes them in a few more colors than Valley Lane but the price is soooo nice on the Valley Lane style.

    Cute Vintage-y Shoes

Lady Jessica, the shoes that I linked from Amerimark are for streetwear. The style only reminded me of a t-strap character shoe. :D

    Favorite Vintage Perfumes

Most fragrances I wear are modern creations. I find a lot of vintage scents to be a little overpowering for me. The other day I sampled the vintage Guerlain scents in a local perfume shop and really wanted to like them and while they smelled nice in the bottle they smelled terrible on me. The...

Crwitt, I love it. I just finished this pattern up yesterday and I'm wearing it to work today! Hopefully I'll be able to get my pics up this weekend. :) Tatum, it's funny, I also ignored this pattern for the longest time. I recently decided to give it shot when the McCall's Co. had their...
