Kinda raggedy IMO. I hate, hate, hate when the collars go bad. There's really no fix for that.

Sounds like the collar has worn at the neckline. Not good.

At least one could replace the Palm Beach collar with a matching strip of fabric more easily than with a patterned fabric.

Yes certainly. There's always the option of using the front facings for repairs like that.
