3/4 trousers in the 30s ?

this is a photo of the german propaganda film maker Leni Riefenstahl filming 'Olympia' in 1938. but never mind her. look at the guy pushing the trolley.....

.....he is wearing some kind of three quarter length trouser. now they could be plus-fours/knickerbockers, but the ends look too crisp. has anyone seen any 30s trousers like this or can we presume they are a home-modified job ?

Well, I own a few pairs of knickers or Plus fours... they do hang like that depending on the fabric they're made of. If it's made of a lighter weight wool, it can hang like that. I see the guy has some sort of socks or stockings on so, it would make sense that they're knickerbockers or plus fours.
