A question of Import, for UK re-enactors

A friend is writing a story where one of the characters, a Finn living in London, has a Katyushka rocket launcher truck. How much hassle would he have had importing it into the UK, and actually moving it about the place?

You were right: about as exciting as the stuff that the Campaign Against Aviation produces. Unfortunately it only covers stuff that's less than ten years old, and the thing I'm talking about is WW2 era kit.

Doc - I guess the real place to get the info for ref. 'Importing' such a beastie into the UK would be the DTI, a bunch of helpful peeps who specialise in the nitty gritty stuff. Don't go via HM Customs, they will think...Mmmmm...Missile launcher....Section 5 Prohibited Weapons catergory.....blah blah this and that etc, they will get the ball rolling to have you investigated etc etc ! News of the World stuff here.....

Best thing to do is just 'drive it' into the UK, accumulate speeding camera fines, parking tickets, flatten a few black cabs, play bumper cars with the buses and let them know 'Who's the Daddy' of the roads, not for getting not to have insurance or road tax like the majority of foreign cars in the UK and double up as a minicab - not sounding too political now am I?? :rage:
