Holy Crimony! It was nearly where they expected it to be. Around here it is a legendary airship. I think the hangar built specifically for it is still standing.
Here is the local news report from yesterday:

I always wondered when they were going to find her. Now it would be great if a significant part were salvaged---especially those planes---government property you know. :D

It would be nice to see the F-9C Sparrowhawks salvaged if possible, NASM did a good job preserving the one survivor.

That is what I was thinking too. The Macon had five of them on board when it sank. That would make quite a display or even better to make them airworthy again. :eusa_clap

P.S. The Maybach engines could be salvaged as well. Those were works of art.

If they are rescued they'll never fly again, plus the Sparrowhawks weren't terribly stable aircraft to fly.

NASM never let's anything fly once it's theirs, that rule is never broken.

It would be very interesting to see some of the surviving color samples if they can pull the Sparrowhawks out of the deep.

By the pictures it looks like there is plenty of color left on them to gie us an idea of what they looked like when new.
I would like to see them fly but if they don't then at least they will be preserved. [huh]
