Dear Troglodyte, sorry no pics are available since I discovered the delete function on my camera. The item in question is a late war variant probably made by the Missing Links company as part of their A.M. Contract No.666. Original and unrestored, the leather has lost its original smooth coating and has aquired a suede like patina with deep creasing and cracking. I would guess from the general appearance that it has seen a great deal of action, although regrettably none of the various scars and blemishes appear to have been caused by a ******. Overall I would say that it is still in extremely robust condition and is exceptionally large, it may have started out as a size 8, but seems to have stretched considerably over the years. It has recently been given a light coating of Oil of Olay conditioner, sadly to little effect. Comes from a smoke, pet, and largely joy free home.

Interesting jacket Gee. Does the Links-made jacket have its original label? I have not heard of the 666 contract. Most of their late War jackets were made under the 10422 contract which was first awarded in 1943.

BACK to 1933!

The "A.C." on the Label of my mint 1933 Irvin which is featured before the recent light-hearted posts is only part of the complete stamp. The letter "I" did not print on the label probably because the stamp was not applied to the jacket with sufficient pressure on a flat surface. I.A.C. = Irvin Air Chute!

The two labels from my 1933 jackets show the complete stamp and the partially applied one.

Good taste and self preservation preclude posting pictures - "item in question" refers to my mother in law, late war vintage, built when meat was cheap. If you can visualise a more masculine version of Soren (admitedly without the beard) in drag you won't be far off the mark. Curiously my wife is the eldest of seven siblings, the only possible explanation being that my father in law served in the merchant navy. Moral of the story? If you suffer from erectile dysfunction, or worry that you are becoming too much of a perfectionist, or indeed have any standards whatsoever when it comes to the fairer ***, before investing in ******, try three months at sea.

Ok guys apologies to all concerned, it was just a joke that started with my saying I loved Andrew's jacket so much I would sell my mother in law to buy it, even pretending that she was up on ebay at the moment. Troglodyte jokingly asked for pics, and I attempted a humorous reply, describing my mother in law in terms more usually associated with ebay ads for Irvins. When it was obvious that I had caused confusion I tried to joke my way out of it, and bury it. To be fair, my last two posts have pretty much said that I want to drop it now and get back on topic. I am quite happy for the whole thing to be deleted. So sincere apologies again, I was only trying to raise a smile, not cause offence.

As the label on your amazing 1933 says ""IRVINSUIT", were early jackets issued with the trousers?

I've seen some later labels with "JACKET" and "TROUSERS" separately. So, I assume they could be obtained from stores separately.

Just wondering if the early "SUITS" were indeed supplied as suits.

Yes, they were initially sold as suits. If you read the patent document from 1932 it is quite clear the jacket and trousers were intended to be worn together,
