"And they said it wouldn't last!"

Tomorrow my wife and I will be celebrating our 44th wedding anniversary.
We were married in Las Vegas at The Little White Chapel on November
26, 1962. That evening we went to the dinner show at The Sands and
were entertained by Nat King Cole, singing all of our favorites. This picture
was taken on our first anniversary. Love that '60s look!

I am curious: who told you that it wouldn't last?

Paisley, if you saw any of the previous pictures I have posted of me, you'd know what I mean. Syl and I met at the beach where I spent most of my time. When I got out of The Corps, I hit the beach and for quite a while I had sand between my toes. "Beach Bum" was the title and I wore it proudly. When it came time to ask myself if Syl and I had a future, the answer was "yes",if I got off the beach and found a decent job. So I went to Las Vegas and went to work at a downtown - Glitter Gulch - casino. Beach bum, working at a LV gambling establishment? Do the math, kid. Not a good resume for most '60s moms and dads to read. But..............

Wasted youth?

Here is a 1959 polaroid shot of me - hoisting a pitcher of dark beer - and some of my friends at a small "Tiki bar" on the beach in SoCal. It was just a hole in the wall, but there was exotic LPs on the stereo, beer and good folks.
What more could a beach bum ask for?

Congratulations! My wife and I celebrated our 15th back in July, and we know money had to have changed hands on our first anniversary. I just wished I had gotten in on the action! lol

Cheers!

Congratulations!

Captain,

Congratulations for a long wedded life. I hope you and your lovely wife have many many more.

Maintcoder,

Congratulations on your engagement. Hope you will also have a long and glorious wedded life. QM sounds like a nice place to get engaged.

I have just gotten married myself. My beautiful wife and myself got married on 2 September 2006. One of the best things that I have ever done. My parents were married for 56 years.

That warm, fuzzy feeling

I want to voice my appreciation to all of you nice folks for your congratulations. For a group of people I have never met face-to-face, I have to admit that I feel like I'm getting "best wishes" from my family. You guys and gals are the best! :eusa_clap
