'Bellevue Park' Auction Sat 20-Sep-08 11am
Auction

9 LINKS ROAD BURRADOO

This is a rare opportunity to acquire an iconic Art Deco home as featured nationally on Channel 10's Home Lifestyle program and in the forthcoming international movie release The Silent Women'.

Exquisitely restored 'Bellevue Park' is a substantial estate perfectly located opposite Royal Bowral Golf Club's 18th hole with northerly views to Mt. Gibraltar and beyond.

Circa 1936, 'Bellevue Park' was built on a grand scale with a magnificent formal lounge featuring a circular built in window seat and open fire, a wonderful formal dining room with original wood paneling, and the most incredible ballroom/billiard room featuring the original table and open fire place with a built in seating nook. The massive kitchen still has the original maid's bells and has been authentically restored in true Art Deco style. Downstairs, there is also an informal meals area, sunroom, powder room, boiler room and mudroom. Upstairs, the grand main bedroom features a circular window and the restored original bathroom ensuite. There are another three substantial bedrooms and a second restored bathroom. Also located upstairs is the original Men's Den/Office with its own walk in robe and built in 'art deco' shaving cabinet.

Set on one and a half acres of beautiful mature gardens, Bellevue Park' also features a gorgeous guest cottage, an artist's studio or workshop and garaging three cars.

Bellevue Park' is a private and secure estate ideally suited as a full time home, grand country estate or a very unique 5 star B and B (STCA).

I particularly like the inglenook fireplace area which would be well used in the era before central heating what with it being decidedly chilly in them thar hills....

Our featured house is Bellevue Park, which was built in 1936 and is home to one of the biggest collections of Art Deco in the country. It blends state of the art design with many original features, including an impressive wood panelled entry with original leadlight. The owners have spent the past 6 years restoring it back to its original magnificence, and it includes 1.5 acres of manicured gardens filled with sculptures.

The attention to detail in each room is amazing. The Dining room for instance has a stunning light from New York sitting above a classic 1920’s Jacobean style dining suite, and the Billiard Room has built in lounges covered in leatherette and a classic cylinder-shaped bar. The lounge is full of timber and curves with the classic circular windows of the P&O style.

Upstairs are 4 bedrooms, with the master having a fabulous curved wall of windows as a backdrop.

And the Art Deco influence is perfectly captured in curves that not only work in the house, but are reflected in the layout of the garden as well.
