Beautiful, deep black ultra- light weight felt. Raw edge brim measures out to a full 2". Wonderful condition, just a touch of lint as all black hats fall prey to, but very clean with no noticeable wear. Great proportion and soft easy-moulding felt. Size 5 Punti or 57 cm, 7-1/8 USA. Likely from the 60's. Drop your shorter brim phobia for this fine hat.

Not necessarily. Some styles were made in a lightweight felt such as the "Alessandria"(Super Cascina) thin ribbon hat and others.
