This vintage (50s?) Borsalino is tagged French/Italian size 6 1/2.
In American hat sizes, that's a 7 1/2. I stretched it slightly to
fit my 7 1/2 Long Oval head, which it does nicely.
However, it's not my style.
The brim appears to have been cut down. I say that
partly on a hunch and partly because it isn't perfectly round.
The right side is close to 2 1/4" and the rest is closer to 2 1/8".
I have a hard time pulling off that brim width. The crown isn't
huge, which works for a lot of people, but not so much me.
The crown is very maleable. I put the current "bash" in it,
but it'd be happy to take a different bash. The felt is comparatively
thick for a vintage Borsalino.
As you can see, it's clean and in great shape.
I love my 50s Borsalinos and wish I could wear this one.
Check out that silk liner and vintage oil cloth (or whatever that
stuff is) and the Marino Napoli logo.
How about $100 shipped, CONUS. I imagine I could do a lot better
on eBay, but I'm hoping there is someone on the Lounge who is
knows what he is looking at and has been wanting one with a
relatively small crown.
Other hats still available:
