Hello fedoralounge,
I am a boater/skimmer enthusiast and a basic historian on them.
These are the things I have noticed.
All British-company boaters are actually identical?
I've seen Olney, Gamble & Gunn, even Lock & Co's black band boaters look virtually the same. Are they re-named or something? It seems Olney makes their own boaters, as they produce the majority of boaters for schools in different shape, material and sizes. I believe they produced the hats for Harrow School since the 50s.
The question is that is Olney selling their boaters in batches to other companies and allowing them to re-name it to theirs or are they made all by themselves?
