Hiya folks! I'm getting my son's pic taken this week for his second birthday (and Easter). He'll be wearing this,
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...ndexURL=0&photoDisplayType=2#ebayphotohosting

But I also have a cute little bomber jacket I'd like to work in. I guess ditch the tie, but what else with it? I really don't want to buy anything,(or shall I say "can't"). I wish I had a scarf.. and if so, should I look for ivory or brown, or what? I'd really like one of those caps with the goggles.. sniff....
This is just an afterthought thing and the jacket won't fit later. Any advice would be great, thanks!

Oh.. also should I do the clouds backdrop, flag, or both, lol!

Why ditch the tie? It goes with the outfit as does the newsboy cap. I wouldn't worry about not having a scarf either. Just add the jacket...and that might turn out, when you see it all, to be a little overkill for the Easter photo. I think the flyer goggle & cap and scarf would definitely be overdoing it - it'll take away from the cuteness of the new outfit. Clouds & sky - yes. Flag? No - but maybe for 4th of July?

But you might plan on doing the WWI flyer look for the next occasion you have a picture taken - khaki pants, bomber jacket, scarf and aviator type sunglasses. With summer coming up, you'll find those for kids everywhere in a few weeks. I got a pair summer before last for one of my cousin's kids - I think they were $5 or so and looked pretty close to my old RayBan Aviators. And you might consider taking the photo at the local airport for a little added atmosphere.

Or take both outfits along when you have the Easter photo taken and have two sets of photos done.

Just my .02 worth...

Thanks Mike~
I'll be doing different poses.. some with the outfit alone, and then throw on the jacket for one pic. You think the bowtie is ok with the bomber? I've seen regular neckties with them...

Yes, I would like to take airport pics. My dad worked at the airport for years and I know he'd get a kick out of it.

I'll hafta put the jacket on and see.. I did't want to put it on today because then he thinks he's going by-by and he'd throw a fit if we weren't!

I usually just take his pics myself, so I hope these turn out!

The idea sounds cute. The outfit is very cute. My mom says there's a picture of me in a flying outfit including the aviator sunglasses and a corncob pipe! In 1990? Seems weird. All I know is now I smoke little cigars. Anyway, please let us know how it turns out.

I think the tie's such a small part of the whole outfit, nobody's going to notice whether its a regular tie or a bow tie. If someone sends the picture back or comments "Well, the necktie isn't exactly period-correct for the outfit..." I'm sure you or anyone else would clobber them anyway. However you photograph it, everyone I'm sure is going to applaud your creativity and comment profusely on how cute an outfit you put together for the kidlette. Big thumbs up!

That's an obvious tip of the hat to Douglas MacArthur!

In this photo, he's not wearing his oft-sighted aviator sunglasses and leather jacket, but the context is clear.

Did anybody else, Army, Navy, Marine or whatever, get to wear those pants?

I also read someplace that his Class A tie was "plum-colored," and that his aide, Lt. Col. Willoughby, wore one the same color.

Well, guess what.. I ended up ditching the jacket idea for now! I tried it on and it looks like it will fit a wee bit longer, so will wait to get the look I want.

Meanwhile, Nova's Great Aunt sent a little sailor suit she picked up at an antique shop, so I took that along.

The pics turned out fantastic tho, I cannot WAIT to get them! Went to Walmart and had three outfits, told the gal exactly what backdrops to use and which props. One backdrop was this dreary grey stone wall with an arched door. She tried to talk me out of it saying it was too "old" for a kid.. well, after she took the pics she asked if she could use them in a contest they had, HA!

I'll definitely post when I get the aviator pics, thanks for the help!
Oh.. and I'm sure he'll have a corncob pipe some day! Don't all little boys need those? Well, perhaps girls too, lol.
