My bookend collecting career began - and ended - with bidding on a pair of Pompeian Bronze bookends ("The Lovers" I think it's called), where the bidding got up to some astronomical amount and the amount of bidders, idem. I loved the things but crikey was I outta my league!
I have a few deco bookends, nice but not "collectibles", and just for holding up my books!
