Having a little trouble with the provenance of my new hat. Any help will be greatly appreciated. The signature is wrong for Elsa S. and I can't find a beetle logo anywhere. Hat reads "Ecuador Hat Co. Hatters Baltimore, Md."

Liner shows "Schiaparelli" with a stylized beetle logo.

Ok, ok, so I paid too much. Sending it out for a cleaning this week to get the Dixie Peach smell out.

Your hat's from the 1970s or 1980s. It's a fedora, not a homburg like the listing states.

I recently sold one like that on ebay. My father gave it to me in the 70s when he was working in a hat store. I don't know much about it and couldn't find much information, but it looked like a really nice hat. If the hat you bought is the same model as the hat I sold, it's definitely not from the 40s as is claimed in the ad.

Yes. Generally, the larger the size, the more money a hat will fetch, with 7-3/8 and 7-1/2 usually bringing in the most money.
7-1/8 hats are pretty easy to find.

Thanks for the replies. I knew it wasn't a homburg but still curious about the Schiaparelli name. Even as recent as the 70's/80's it's interesting to see the difference in felt weight used compared to a better than average current hat.
