Obviously a tad short, but considering the alternative being that you would have to go for a custom, I don't think it can be contested.

That's actually how I like my black crosszips to fit. Just a 70s-80s baby I guess. I'm a bottom feeder, but I'd be stoked with that.

Just so you can see the fit...

I noticed that sleeves are a bit short like in my case ( i'm tall 186cm and I wear 2XL chinese size) but I'm surprised your comparison with DH sizes that are similar for sleeves. I thought original model have longer sleeves. Probably it is a problem of all asian jaclets (bootleg or original) . CIDU has a bit longer sleeves models

Someone just posted another Brake House jacket on Reddit.
https://www.reddit.com/r/leatherjacket/comments/1opykzd Looks pretty good to me, La Brea copy for ~400$ including the middleman services. I guess you can get it for 200-300$ if you shop closer to the source.
I cannot figure out the Taobao app. It's almost worth it to spend the extra money and have the middleman who can also provide good service and sizing advice.

I have never tried the TaoBao app, but I know it's tricky for westerners. I guess there are many different models of middlemen, drop shippers and 3rd party websites helping you to varying degrees. Of all the "services" they provide I guess easy returns and safely getting your money back in case of sub optimal fit would be the most valuable one to me, although getting consultation, easy shopping and good shipping rates are definitely very welcome as well.

On a side note, I have the Simons J-31. I recommend it for a budget version of that hard-to-find jacket style.

It's almost useless as a foreigner. The way to navigate these apps is by finding items and then buying them through agents that will store your stuff and then ship it once you tell them. If you have any teenager in your life (sons, daughters, cousins, nephews, nieces...) ask them about how to buy fake designer clothes and they may tell you all about Chinese agents to navigate Taobao and the such.

IMO, unless you're buying several things, not worth the money saved with just going with a middleman like Tailor Brando.

I agree 100%.

It annoys me when people invariably say "you can get that cheaper on Taobao", lol.

This does look pretty good, especially for the price. The hide quality looks impressive and I see no issues with the stitching, straight and consistent.

I have ordered a handful of Chinese jackets over the years, mostly takes on a leather chammy style jacket, with patterned blanket making up the bulk of the front and back while shoulder panels, bottom, collar and cuffs are leather.

The quality of what is the exact same jacket pattern and bought from the same seller and sold at the same price has varied insanely. Buying from the same company yielded the same pattern but with different branding and different leather. Most of it was junk and not worth the $150 I paid for it, but the two jackets with Cidu branding were exceptional quality in both stitching, leather, and finishing. Something I think people would feel comfortable paying around $600 for here if it was from a recognizable American brand and more if it was Japanese.

Thank you very much :)
Perhaps a used shearling would be an alternative? Or one from AVI (e.g. https://www.avileather.com/de/produkt/d-1-mechanics-jacket-sheepskin-leather/)?
If you feel the same way as I do, then you'll love shearling. I'd rather give away my leather jackets than my shearling jackets. It's a good thing that's not up for discussion
Do you find Avi Leather jackets — both regular and shearling — to be higher quality and a better investment than 5* jackets?

Unfortunately, I don't have a jacket from Avi Leathers, so I can't comment on them. I'm thinking about buying a G-1 from them, but they're not very talkative and tend to be curt. A standard size probably won't fit me, and I'm not sure whether I should go for a custom fit.

Obviously as they are two different styles this is not an exact like for like comparison however I’ve recently handled two AVI Bronco horsehide A-2 jackets and although the workmanship looked fine I thought the leather was quite thin with a very vinyl-like appearance.
I’ve also seen a Five Star G-1 jacket and this had a more substantial goatskin outer, thick knitted cuffs & waist and a soft mouton collar.

Given both AVI and Five Star jackets are made in Pakistan I’m not sure if there really is much difference between them. You will probably find those who’ve had good experiences with either of them and some who have had real problems; but that’s the risk you take when you buy from abroad to take advantage of a lower cost. It’s fine if it all works but if things go wrong in someway (fit or fault) it can end up costing more than buying in your home country.

Quick pic as I was coming back from the office and a couple errands. I think it is slightly big but I suspect that going down a size would make it too small, there's just no 2.5XL haha. I've thought about closing the cinches more if I make additional holes but that may be too much and not work as I expect.

Hello, just got from China a low budget Highwayman chinese copy. Brand COPERSIAN.
It is very cheap (€100 shipped) but leather is quite thick . Only internal liner is very anonimous . A simply black. But good jacket for the price

Hey Guys,

First post here after lurking a bit related to leather jackets. I wanted to please ask for some help related to fitment.

I purchased the red brown rainbow country via tailor brando in 4XL. Shipped monday and arrived wednesday super fast 3days. Dylan has been superb the entire way.

My stats are the following
6ft height
210 lb
43inch chest
40inch waist widest
19.5inch shoulder to shoulder

I think the 4XL is a bit too big for my frame and i can comfortably layer on a hoodie. The back seems bunched up a bit.

Wanted to ask if i should try 3XL or 2XL next.
This 4XL is wearable with layering i think.

Picture are unzipped with tshirt, zipped with hoodie, front and back with blue hoodie unzipped.

Please let me know if anyone has any thoughts. Much appreciated! Thanks!
If you are planning on getting another size definitely go with the 3xl. with your measurements I think the 2xl would be too tight.

" China made" not like a 30 years ago. Happened same like a Japanese in 50x time as in Japan was produced cheap ****, nobody think same this days.
China had a lot of hi-end product with are a much better then many western where was lost craftsman experience.
And I am from west.
This is a lot of small craftsmanship wich made same as in Japan products even I am pretty sure a lot of Japanese famous companies produce in China or used materials made in China.
