Cowboy boots are for any attire.I went through a cowboy faze awhile back. I did'nt take, Tight pants, and sharp toed boots are hard to work in. And I live in Texas where every third person dresses like that. Cowboy hats are hard to wear in a vehicle with a head rest. Real Cowboys, well thats another thing altogether. They spend most of the day outside and in the saddle. There's a saying down here that refers to a wanna be, "He's all hat, and no cattle!" Cowboy boots can be stylish, but for me they are part of an ensemble.
John Lofgren Monkey Boots Shinki Horsebuttt - $1,136 The classic monkey boot silhouette in an incredibly rich Shinki russet horse leather.
Grant Stone Diesel Boot Dark Olive Chromexcel - $395 Goodyear welted, Horween Chromexcel, classic good looks.
Schott 568 Vandals Jacket - $1,250 The classic Perfecto motorcycle jacket, in a very special limited-edition Schott double rider style. ah ahI just have to keep the missus from pulling my good ones off the shelf to do that.
BB, I think you pretty well nailed it with those TL's. With the split toe wrinkles & similarity of the toe bug, if mine weren't made by TL then someone copied the style. I will probably never know for sure. Thanks for posting those!Hurricane, I'm uploading a couple pics from some mid-60's? Tony Lama's I have. The toe bug is very similar, though not exact. The tongue is quite different but I've seen early Tony Lama boots with a tongue very similar to what you've shown. Not sure if this helps or deepens the mystery.

My wife found this pair while digging through a drawer at her late Mom's (now my daughter's) house.

They seem to be mismatched on size, sole and stitching. Too small for me anyway.
