Damn Yankees Musical Remake

According to Variety, Jim Carrey and Jake Gyllenhaal will be starring in a big screen adaptation of the classic musicals Damn Yankees. Jim Carrey is cast as the Devil, and Gyllenhaal is cast as Boyd/Joe Hardy. Looks like it's in the very early stages of pre production. The producing team of Craig Zadan and Neil Meron have turned out the highly successful "Chicago" (Yea!) and "Hairspray" (Eh.)

I think Jim Carrey will be fantastic~ a really good comedian is often a really good actor. Must have something to do with timing. I've never been impressed with Jake Gyllenhaal; a bit vacuous. No word yet on the rest of the cast or a start date.
