dating a gift?

i mentioned elsewhere i got my grandfather a 3x beaver dress hat, and i would like to be able to tell him how old it is, since he's into antiques and vintage. here is a link to the auction page. i can take better pictures if you need me to, just feeling lazy right now.

As someone with little knowledge I'd say 1960s. Narrow brim and low crown was very popular then, matching the narrow lapels on suits.

it appears to be taller than the hats i have in my collection. i know its possible to date based on the liner, but i am quite new to this.
