Surprisingly the rocket car survived and is in a museum somewhere. Maybe just as surprising, its owners survived to die of old age as well.

I'm assuming custom, I doubt Corporate Coke created this thing:

  3. Why would anyone but Coca-Cola spend that kind of money? [IMG]

I found a different photo of what appears to be the same vehicle with the caption, "Coca-Cola being delivered to your doorstep (Illinois, ca 1937)."

The buildings in the backgrounds of both photos appear to be privately owned by someone who could afford (or needed?) such large residences, so maybe this was a service offered to Coke's wealthier customers?

All good points - I was just guessing. Who knows, maybe for a moment in time, Corporate Coke offered the service.

Now, let's think, which FL member might know the answer?

    To the Lizzie Signal

That's an interesting photo. I wish it showed a bit more to the side because I'm at least 50% sure I recognize that house. It is possible since there was a large Coke bottling plant in town with a very wealthy owner that the vehicle could have been here at least on one occasion.

  9. Pushing the envelope. These busses stayed "deco" for quite some time.
