Disappear

So you've come to visit....suddenly
beneath the curtain
of my conscious headlights

Sometimes I welcome you in
with disdain for the opposite part
I'm forced to play against my will

Lately you've invaded
more than unwelcomed
you wipe your feet on my restless mind

I want to lock the walls
close the doors
anything to salvage the night

But you drag me towards the break
I know it waits impatiently
so I submit for the sake of conformity

Now we're in the middle
and you do nothing for me
but paint the skies in your chosen colors

Your pride is incredible
your ego, a mountain of stones
none of which you leave unturned

If I controlled the station tonight
my world would build itself
but you push the buttons of hidden angst

Somewhere in this shade
my stomach has turned
and the other side is less tolerant

These moving images arise
in the wake of freedoms
I've yet to take advantage of

So you've come to visit...suddenly

...until I lift the veils
bringing the newborn light
and you disappear
