Does HorseHide become buttery soft?

I'm not too fond of the term either. I just don't like the sound of it. Same as "patina" and "fades" in the denim world.

Then again, I can't think of a better word to describe Aero's oil pull HH. . .

Well, he could afford the best after how he shafted the Stones - doesn't he own all their sixties publishing rights?

EXACTLY. When ads read "buttery soft!" about leather, I stop reading. I associate it with low quality hides that you could tear with your bare hands. Sub-mall lamb. Typically after a couple of weeks even my heaviest new leathers have been perfectly comfortable, though. There's no need whatever to artificially accelerate the break-in - just wear the damn thing.
I think you've just coined a new phrase: "Sub-mall lamb!" Perfect.

I have several Cal Leather horsehide jackets, and most of them are still pretty stiff, but one is very soft and supple. Don't know why. Wasn't there the whole time.

I have a Star Glove and a High Large natural HH. Both are so soft, they feel almost like faux leather. The Star Glove weighs 5.9 lbs but it feels like nothing on, given how soft it is. Its leather appears to have a white-grey core. I suspect that veg tanned horsehide eventually becomes very soft.
