Christmas present to self: a NEW Eddie Bauer B-9 parka (XL Long), on closeout due to a minor fabric issue. Someone got careless w/ a box-cutter while unpacking, inflicting a 1/4 inch cut EXACTLY where a WW2-spec nametag would go. Parka cost just over $100, nametag from FlightJacket.com cost $25, and my tailor charged a whole 5 bucks to sew it on. (Had a lightly-worn original years ago, but middle-aged spread ended the relationship and it went to a collector buddy.) Lovely thing about the 'long' size is that it adequately covers one's bum in extreme cold; watched a predawn lunar eclipse in 20-degree weather in this dude, and was quite comfortable---except for the legs/knees, where long underwear would have been in order. (A B-2 sheepskin cap helped the head & ears. Hot coffee afterward didn't hurt matters at all---face was getting kind of numb by then.) Would like to hear and comparisons between 'new' vs 'old' Eddie Bauer B-9s. Cheers!
