Anyone tried these new 2966 Klondikes? or some general experience with the klondike leather? Seriously consider picking these up, though a plastic heel stack at that price is pretty laughable. Picture shamelessly stolen from the internet for attention.

I though they would take it seriously to celebrate it’s birthday, or they think plastic is better.

From what I saw those don’t have a metal toe as well.

That appeals. My 2966s do. While I like them very much, I'd also like to have a soft-toed pair, especially for colder days.

I remember this being raised before some time ago. It's not a cost-related issue was the upshot, but a specific design choice. Supposedly it is less prone to deforming and altering the heel shape over time than leather. I can't honestly say it would ever have occurred to me to notice that there was plastic in there when I like the boots. Looks very similar to my Chippewas - no idea if they do the same. My Lewises have an entirely rubber sole, and I'm just fine with that.

Ive been wearing these Wesco Mr Lou's for 10 days now, the upper really didn't take any break in whatsoever, I would highly recommend them, probably wont be my last pair. Stunning pair of boots. If my budget ever allows - and I have the option of trying before I pull the trigger - those are a model I'd love to try. Particularly nice shade of brown there too.

Thanks, i was in Vancouver, so a stop at The Shop Vancouver, i thought the Mr Lou would be too tight in the shaft, but they fit like a glove, i love em, well worth the price.

I had some Pecos with the plastic stack a while back and I recall the rationale being because it held up better to wet environments etc. I doubt anyone is buying Klondike 2966's for farm work though... I have the soft-toed 2990s and they're incredibly comfortable even for long work days but I wouldn't choose them for really rough conditions.

Yeah, can't imagine these being used down the farm. Potentially as motorcycle boots, though I'd be surprised if that's more than a small minority of buyers (much like Lewis leathers, really).
