All these awesome boots dropping for under 1K, I'm starting to think that the hype machine that was Role Club clobbered me good when I bought my pair. Don't get me wrong, they are sick, but they're not twice the price of any of these sick.

Hey guys,

I’m currently looking for advice on engineers that fit a skinny heel/ankle. I would love a pair of John Lofgren Wabash but from what I’ve heard the heels are very chunky more so fit for an average ankle size. My budget is about 800-1000 usd and would prefer to go the horsehide route. My brannock measurements are 9 D on left foot and 9C on right foot. Been a runner for most of my life so my feet are slim/low volume with a decent amount splayed in the toe area.

ugh that *****. I don’t want to be rude but I just don’t dig the Indonesian boot makers I’ve seen. I would much prefer a Japanese Engineer boot if I’m being honest. I’ve heard that attractions lot 444/279 are a good fit for low volume feet. I was hoping to just wait around for a restock of those. I’d go as far as save up for a pair of The Real McCoy's Buco Engineers. Does anyone have experience with those? I’ve dreamt of having engineer boots for years, now that I finally have some money to spare I just keep see them going up and up in value…..

I’ve heard Addict CL last engineers may work with low volume feet. Lofgrens did not work for me. I’m currently managing with Bright Shoemakers classic engineers after punching some extra holes in the strap, but they are definitely more volumous than I’d prefer.

With those requirements and that budget, I think you are going Indonesian made-to-measure.

Those look great! I’ll keep those in mind.

I can confirm that addict are better for low volume feet. After 6 or 7 different brands they fit best. Lofgren will not work for you

Picked up a pair of Wesco 7500's in Black "work" leather. Extremely well broken in, these literally feel like house slippers. Perfect with double socks in the winter months (13D's here). It's interesting as with normal socks, a pair of as-yet un-broken in Cordovan Wesco 7500's in a 12D feel nearly too tight in the toe-box area. There are the same boots! Just the black pair (cordovan photos tomorrow) being so well started down the road of break in have 0 discomfort at all. I really "get" the appeal of engineers, especially the Wesco's with these. Don't worry that they "lean" a little and have "compressed" a bit. They are just very well broken in. This is what all Engineer boots hope to become! :)
