Field Leathers

As a long time lurker here looking to dip into my first proper jacket I was drawn towards the work of Field Leathers from seeing some great work here and feedback and also looking at their Insta.
I was about to pull the trigger but some of my questions have gone unanswered recently, also noticed their socials to be quiet of late. Out of curiosity I happened to look at their Compnies house page and see they have been dissolved/ ceased trading? FIELD LEATHERS LTD overview - Find and update company information - GOV.UK https://share.google/9dcs6BPyZMYhDFMPv

I was under the impression that there there was a number of folk here with orders in the queue? Have you guys had any feedback from Field leathers regarding this?

Yes I saw on their stories still selling jackets but I thought (and Google also) that if disolved they couldn't trade? My emails have gone unanswered?

Website is legit .gov.uk. If you read the last 3 pdf filings of the Filing History, Greg Fields filed for the strike-off and dissolution that follows it 2 months after.

Around the same time as their last posts (other than stories) did anyone place any orders recently?
I'm a bit bummed as I really fancied one of their jackets , I now worry about folk waiting for a jacket .

JI don't know what having dissolved entails (can he stay in business? Is he rebranding? Getting new partners?), but he's quite bad at communication, which seems to be a trend with many makers.
As far as I can tell once disolved they can not legally trade, also in the 3 moths leading up to dissolving.

Did a bit more digging, seems there is/was Field Leathers LTD aka the one that dissolved and Field Clothing LTD, created on July 29th 2025 and is currently active.

Both are owned by Greg Field, born on March 1987, the difference is in the address. Perhaps he moved to a different place and that either forced him to re-register under a new name and dissolve the old one or he mistakenly created a new one instead of updating an existing one.

Ah ok , intriguing. So still operating then it seems, but does something not seem fishy ?
Wish they would answer emails.

I spoke to Greg on instagram recently. Seemed he is revamping his website and releasing new models when he gets through the current backlog- he even invited me to visit in person while I’m in Edinburgh for a business trip next month. I think all is good but he did close his books recently to catch up on orders.

Just give him a call. If you get past his heavy Scottish accent, he’s a joy to chat with.

The company issue per se wouldn’t bother me too much. Trademark issues aside, he can still operate, albeit of course not under the ex-company.
Certainly worth asking him, though, as it’s not been unheard of that folks switch legal entities to rid themselves of debt incurred by the old front (which I can’t conceive happening here as the companies assets would then be used to pay off the debt).

Yeah I might try calling on Monday, im in the UK so accent no issue.

I am just a little cautious as I have been stung before dealing with and giving money to an already disolved company (unbeknown to me at the time). There are strict rules on trading which can not happen once disolved, and even from the time of application. I think I personally would feel more comfortable waiting to see if he does in fact relaunch as a new company so I am more comfortable with where my money is going.
His current selling off stock on his instgram stories for "make me an offer" whilst disolved seems very dodgy to me.

I can't speak to any current issues as it has been a while but my experience with Greg was very positive. It took longer than expected but that was partially due to a change I made and his desire to do two fitting jackets because he wasn't satisfied with the first.

As for selling off some random jackets on Instagram he's been doing that since I've known him so I wouldn't read too much into that.

I find that he responds very quickly on instagram. He’s recently put up a few jackets for sale there and is open to offers. That’s one way to circumvent the waiting list. Not sure how Greg is as a business person, but his jackets are wonderful. And he’s been easy to work with on transactions and shipping to the US.

What I suspect is happening is that Field wants to branch out and expand its offering to wool and other fabrics, so it changed its name from Field Leathers to Field Clothing. It’s weird to buy a wool jacket from Field Leathers, for example. The former name was limiting in terms of what it impliedly carries.

How about East West Musical Instruments? :)

Or Eastman Leather Motorcycle Club selling logger boots and aviator jackets.
