Fit is much better now but judging by the pics the leather looks a bit dull, it doesn't have the luster you'd expect from a $2k jacket. I guess lots of tannines were flushed out during the swim (one of the cons of vegetable tanned leathers). I think if you apply a thin coat of clear beeswax based shoe polish and give it a rub up with a cotton rag the leather will look just as good as before, maybe even better.

I think it looks great Terry, don't let the flaking bother you. It has character now.

I was looking at this jacket the other day and they're just embracing the flaking / worn look.

Interesting jacket you linked! I'm right on course with flaking leather!

Unfortunate in a way, but IMO it looks like it fits you better than before. I dig it and would call it a happy accident here.

I like that, "Happy accident" Yes.

It did have a Beef Jerky look and feel. I conditioned it and go back the shine. I will try your recipe!

Here is it after the Flood.

a year late as usual. im wondering about the opposite of the "happy accident". if it can shrink, will it stretch? i bought a finecreek jacket from one of the loungers. the jacket is super supple. but feels a little tight all around, not sure if only because its not broken in yet. the leather fine creek uses, is there a chance it will stretch a bit with wear? is there a way to "safely" stretch it a little for it to fit me better? thanks!
