I hesitate to do this, but here we go.

Offered for sale are what I believe to be the perfect* engineer boots: Japanese-made Attractions & Co. model 269 (steerhide) engineer boots, sz 9.5D with Biltrite half soles and heel caps.

*The catch being that I am overly frustrated with the process of taking them on and off, which is why I am selling.

They show some signs of wear on the toes and shafts as evident by the photos. However, this is 99.9% a result of me taking the boots on and off, as I only ever wore them out and about a half dozen times. They're in excellent condition otherwise.

Re fit: marked size 9.5D, fit true size US 10D. For reference, I am a 9.5D in White's Semi Dress and Alden Indys, a 10D in Wesco and Converse All Stars, and a 10.5D in Nikes and New Balance. Note- if you have a high instep, these may not be the boots for you. I have to use a plastic bag over my feet to get the boots on. Some dudes are ok with this, but it bugs the tar out of me. Once I get them on I find them to be incredibly comfortable with no heel slippage.

Price: $500 plus shipping and PP fees (if any). These are currently sold out with a multi-month wait list, and I'm pretty firm on my price. If no interest I'll just keep them and get some more plastic bags lol. In fact, I will likely take these off the market if my cap toe British tan White's Semi Dress sell first ($275).

Boots will be shipped with original box from the Seattle area via USPS.

This is the moment of final departure.... how's the hand of their steerhide? feels like the horsehide?

Reg that's really funny lol . Showing just how much I've babied them I guess ;)

To your question: The steer is really robust. Dense and stiff with a very heavy shine to it. I haven't handled the 268s so it's hardly fair for me to comment, but my understanding is the steer is significantly different all around (thicker, less soft, harder wearing, etc). For me, I opted for the steer simply because all the examples I saw on the interwebs of the horsehide looked more like gator than equine (with a weird grain pattern). I'm hoping someone buy the SDs soon so I can keep these sonsofguns in my closet for a little longer.
