It would be a shame to sacrifice the collar of the Star. A better option would be to replace the collar of your new Orchard (?) with real, honey colored mouton salvaged from another source. A friend of mine finds coats such as the one linked below and, thus, stays well stocked in replacement collars.

Tried on an Orchard 46 today.......shoulders were good....pit to pit too tight...here's hoping with that 48
