Justin, Manfred, Steve, thanks. I did jump on the Habig as soon as it came up for auction and it is a fine quality hat. But somehow when it's on my head it doesn't quite agree with me. I have a few other hats like that; nothing you can pinpoint exactly but still a bit "off". O well, guess I need a replacement hat for this one.:)
That seems to occur now and again, but whatever it may be it'll be even better

Hückel (Weilheim) "Chamois", 57cm, probably mid to late 1950s. Fantastic felt color / finish and easily dry creases. Great form and as usual very fine dressing work. The feather came with it and matches nicely with the felt color.

Perhaps the most beautiful hat I've ever seen. The proportions, felt, ribbon, and binding are just perfect.

Like the other said, Steve, fantastic hat. Can't find anything wrong with it. Lucky for you it runs a bit large (that made me skip on one just like it recently, which I know I shouldn't have done).

While on the subject of Hückel chamois finishes, here's another one. This one was the last one to travel south in this Holland-Italy hat exchange program. Hückel Foulard in black, size 59. Bound brim at 6,5cm and crown at 11 cm at the pinch. Great chamois finish and high quality finishing too. Sold by Derendorf Essen, Germany (I'll post another one of their hats soon). I think 1960's.

Römer Hut (Roman Hat) "Antelope", 57cm probably mid 1950s. This hat is machine formed but the Antelope finished felt is very soft. It has a low profile with a bunch of swoop. The paper label doesn't have a company mark. Römer Hut is for the Römer City Hall, Frankurt am Main (see the F on the breast of the eagle in the crest).

That is another beauty, Steve. I really like the warm colour of this one. Would you reshape the hat from its preformed shape or just leave it like it is?

As promised here's another hat from the Derendorf shop in Essen, Germany. Not a hat I would normally choose, because of its short brim, but the colour of this one won me over. Halali in blue (regatta on the label), size 56. Raw edge brim at 5cm and crown 9cm at the pinch. Sweatband has a ribbon all the way round (don't know the proper term for that). The hat was in a terrible state when I found it, but cleaned up nicely after brushing, steaming, more brushing, more steaming and a little bit of stretching (still a few creases in the ribbon, but these will come out soon enough). My guess would be early fifties.

Another one from my shopping yesterday for you to hopefuly enjoy. Vornehm (which roughly translates as "noble" or "of standing") velours in black, size 56. Raw edge brim at 6,5cm and crown 10cm at the pinch. No label in the hat. Came in a bit frumpled (if that's even a word) but it needed little persuasion to show itself as a beautiful hat. The liner seems to be some sort of manufactured material (rayon maybe). That, the size sticker and the frayed bow makes me think it's an early one. Forties or perhaps earlier than that.

Beautiful velour finish. What nationality?

Mike, thanks. Can't really tell what nationality because there's no label in the hat. Vornehm is a German word so it's either German or Austrian.

Stefan, Great find! I think it's WWII era. I am fairly certain it was made by Max Wiese Berlin because "Halali" was their trademark and even the though the paper label doesn't have their initials it has a similar format.
