Interesting, Matt. So it's an advertising sign. That would explain the way it doesn't quite fit in with the rest of the labels etc.

    Thanks for that.

    You're welcome, Steve!
Yes, it is a kind of advertising sign and
is certainly based on a cooperation between
the hat manufacturer OR the hat shop
and the company that produced "Imprägnol".

Matt, Yes correct. There are a couple posts here on "Imprägnol". I found a couple examples of Mayser Milz Hats with "Imprägnol" but no other known hat companies.

Steve, Thanks for additional photos. My guess based on the paper label and Imprägnol label is the hat was made by Mayser Milz.

Panos, Most of the major German Wool Hat Companies were in what became East Germany post WWII. Guben was the largest center. Wool Soft and Stiff Felt Hats dominated the European market up to WWII. All the major European Hat making countries strongly defended their domestic markets.

Thanks Steve. Wotan was a new name for both Stefan and I. Nice to have some further info on it.
It's a well made hat with some fine finishing, so it doesn't surprise me that it's connected to one of the major German hat companies.

Steve, It's just a guess on who might have made the hat. I haven't looked into Wotan yet.

Understood Steve, but I think you're on to something. It's not a run of the mill made hat, so some connection to one or other of the top German/Austrian hat makers is more than likely.

Fantastic work, Steve. Thank you so much.

May I suggest you also create a new thread starting with this so it's something like the Borsalino paper label thread.

Steve, Thanks! I guess I could also post in the JHS specific thread. I am working on the Stiff Felts so once that is finished I will post post them together.

Hat (felt, liner) in nice condition - just the sweat is worn & some stitches lost.
This one is a smaller size and therefore reserved for our friend Panos.

Matt, Super find! I can't see the viewable info on the paper label. Not sure if it's possible to take a complete photo of the label.
