I'm pretty new to this whole vitage hat thing. My grandfather passed away 20 years ago. Goiong through some old boxes (kept in cool, dry place) I came across his old hat. The liner inside says Creighton, the price tag still inside ($10.95). How rare are these hats? Can't find info online. I would like to start wearing it, but don't want to be foolish about care & upkeep. Any advice would be helpfull. (care, origin, etc..)

start with the basics:

I'm no vintage hat expert, but "how rare is it" depends on a few things. One, is the size. Larger sizes (7 1/2 +) tend to be harder to find. It also depends on the hat itself, like it's condition (moth nibbles, stains, shape, etc), it's brand, it's model, and other stuff.

Love the hat, and it will serve you for years to come.

Thanks for the info, I'll post a pic ASAP.

It would be nice to see the exterior as well as the interior (especially for those willing to investigate for you). Maybe any words or numbers on the sweatband and behind the sweatband or on the back of it. A picture of the lining might help as well (the "logos" can sometimes help people).

By the way, I like your avatar. Is that your dog?

As a matter of fact, it is my previous (late) dog. She loved to fish. Sorry no pics yet, I'm having trouble loading them (software issues). SOON!
