Great Grandfather's hat

Here's a picture of my Great Grandfather taken sometime in the late 30's with what appears to be an Open Road. Now I know that my obsession for thin ribbon hats is genetic.

My father's supposed to be tracking down pics of my grandfather in his hats, particularly the one I have. I know there's another thread for pics of vintage family photos, but I think one here showing family hats would be great.

Mark, your great-grandfather doesn't look like a man to be trifled with.

You know, your great grandfather looks alot like Jim Varney. What's the history/context of the picture?

He was a farmer from upstate New York in the Finger Lakes region. He probably had some pretty hard times as most people did and yes he doesn't look like someone to triffle with.

Here is my great grand father from around 1940 Athens Alabama. He was also a farmer.

Those are all excellent pictures! Even as a young man, your grandfather looked sharp!

Here are a couple of photos of my Grandfather and Great Grandfather sporting hats. Maybe this ribbon thing is genetic, theirs are both wide ribbons[huh] .

RBH, Undertaker, love the pictures. I think it's very interesting to put a face on your own history. Undertaker, maybe this wide/thin ribbon theory has some legs.
