I just got a new Gruen Curvex wristwatch. It has a black face and silver numbers. How authentic to the period is it?

You've probably got the same one that I do. Evidently it's a pretty close remake of a 1936 design. Winding / set crown is different, and the 'Precision' script is missing from from below 'Gruen' on the face, otherwise it's dead on from what I've seen.

That is the one I have. Before that I had similar styled Timex with white face and black numbers and a Pulsar with date and gold tone with brown watch band. If I wore brown clothes it was with the Pulsar; black clothes was with the Timex.

The rectangular face is a great style, i always think of Hamilton watches. Ilike the light face and brown strap combo the most.
