Lovely to see so many familiar faces without hats! Thanks to @Blare for pointing my attention to this thread!

These days I am almost never without a hat on my head, but when it’s off you can still see the last vestiges of my now woefully-thin mohawk.

Not nearly as radical as it was in my youth, but I was known for my hawk decades before I was ever known for my hats and it will always be the secret me that I keep tucked under the lid.

And a very good rendition it is too, Jack. Back in my younger days, I also had a beard.

I grew it in my twenties after asking a doctor about a mole removal. It was in a prominent place on the right side of my face. The doctor said that although it wasn't proven, there were indications that mole removal could lead to the growth of cancerous cells. She added, "why don't you grow a beard?" "Because I had never thought about a beard," I replied and we both laughed.

2010, during my mandatory "I've just retired" scruff phase :D

Great shirt Mark, you've upstaged me! Your scruff phase quip made me smile. The beard is not at all scruffy, but it did prompt a reminisce.
Back in my much younger days I had to have a medical examination, the company that I worked for at the time, insisted upon it. After the doctor had completed his poking and proding and was quite happy that I wasn't an ear or eye missing, he asked if there was anything I would like to tell him.
"Can this be removed?" I asked, pointing to the mole on my face. "It can," he said, "but I would advise you to leave well alone," he then added, "grow a beard." So I did.
The years flew by and come middle-age, wisps of grey hair started sprouting in the beard.
"Grey!" "Old people go grey! The beard came off, I would rather have the mole.
Vain? Who me?
