Hats on high steel part 1

I found these pictures interesting...plenty of caps but only a couple of high altitude fedoras. These guys not only worked with steel, they had nerves of the same stuff! The buiilding they are constructing is the Empire State Building.

Those guys are an OHESS guys nightmare. Seriously though, those are some great photos you dug up. My grandfather used to work high steel and always had great stories of things that happened on those job sites. Grand-Dad always wore fedora's, but I don't know if he wore them up on beam. He had a bunch of old hardhats. Of course it was in honor of Grand-Dads style that I started getting into vintage hats. Unfortunately, I don't know what ever happened to all of Grand-Dad's fedoras. What a waste. :(
