Help ID this vintage cafe racer leather jacket

Hello,

I purchased this at an auction as it was in good condition and I had never seen a corduroy liner before. It has Talon zippers. On Reddit, they said it was a cafe racing jacket from the 60’s or 70’s, but they don’t know the brand.

There are no tags but with some of the unique features, I’m hoping somebody here will help identify the brand.

That’s what I thought, but there is a rectangle area near the top that is where the tag was, but has been removed. It’s possible whoever relined it affixed a tag that was later removed, but I doubt it. Makes me think it’s the original liner, but I’m not 100% certain on that.

Looks like a Taubers. I’ve seen several with corduroy linings and with similar detailing on the front. The sideways triangles on the inside pockets were also a signature of theirs.

Yes, absolutely. Lots of documented Taubers jackets on the forum.

I owned a Taubers with the Cord lining, probably from the 70s. They made jackets in the Bay Area of California from 1941 to 1985. They went through a lot of transitions in the leather jacket industry.

This is a Taubers I owned. I have one currently in a 2 tone leather similar in style to the posted jacket. I've owned many Taubers and they are great jackets.

I guess I would like to know if you all are confident enough for me to list this for sale as a likely Taubers jacket? I don’t want to mislead anyone so the description would make it clear the label isn’t there so I can’t be 100% but the consensus from experts here is it is likely a Taubers. Is that safe to say?

Are you selling the jacket? Trying to convince some one else it is a Taubers? Are you convinced it is a Taubers?

Yes, I intend to sell the jacket. I’m not convinced it is or it isn’t because, as should be apparent from my previous posts, I’m not familiar with leather jackets and certainly not with the Taubers brand.

I’m not trying to convince anyone of anything, that’s why I’m asking if others feel confident enough to say it is likely a Taubers. In fact, as my previous posts indicate, I don’t want to mislead people with my listing when I sell it so I’m wondering how confident others are that it may be a Taubers.

From what I gather, there are some telltale signs that it may be a Taubers. I’m simply trying to ascertain how certain, or uncertain, the experts here are in that assessment before I list it. If others feel less than confident it is Taubers, I won’t include it in the listing.

Anyone buying it as a Taubers is going to recognize it as such, just like in this thread. Taubers are great jackets with a great history, but not well known as many other makers. Not sure calling it a Taubers will increase it's value.

The size and condition are more important than the name, to most buyers. What size is it?

I’m not sure, but I suspect it is medium for two reasons - I bought this jacket as a lot that included a leather vest that is a medium, and because I wear a large to extra large and can’t put this jacket on as it is a bit too small.

Incidentally, I noticed one of the sleeves may need some cleaning. Any recommendations on how best to do that?

I find that most people here have been friendly and helpful. Perhaps some people are interested in helping others without needing a quid pro quo. Especially if it’s someone new to an interest they feel passionate about.

If the friendly and helpful members here had known you were only looking for information so you could sell the jacket, I doubt that any of them would have been so helpful. They get tired of giving information to a one shot new member so he can sell his items.
