Help me figure if the jacket is legit cowhide

Good afternoon. I just got Johndon leather trucker shipped from ebay and wonder if this is real cowhide because when I opened the box it smelled plastic to me and after I put on, weight feels too light as supposed to be cowhide and that's probably I'm so used to Aero cxfqhh, however I spray water on to jacket so if they stretch or behave as faux leather and it kinda felt sticky and rubbery to me. The seller claimed he put pecard leather conditioner before he packed, it would take a couple days to get fully soaked in to the jacket and once that happens then no more smell with leather would feel as natural cowhide supposed to be. I need insights.

Rest assured that is "real" leather. The characteristics you've described (plastic smell, sticky, rubbery) are likely due to the Pecards application. It's possible the jacket hasn't soaked it all up yet, or that a topcoat on the leather is preventing it from absorbing.

Whether or not the leather is full grain, top grain or corrected grain, etc: perhaps other more knowledgeable members here can chime in. To me, it looks like it may be a pebble grain leather, which I believe can be made either by shrinking the leather or embossing it, but I'm not 100% sure.

Thank you very much. The way how the jacket is stitched, different grains from panel to panel, I'm also optimistic that it'd be legit but the smell and stickiness make me doubtful.

I’m no expert but it looks legit to me.

Johnson is a very niche brand and I doubt anyone is out here making fakes.

The leather also looks fairly similar to my naked cowhide jackets

I don't doubt JL, I suspected if chance, someone might attach JL label to fake jacket. I guess I've gone too far on that.

My point is I doubt anyone is doing that, especially as it would be hard to fake the construction quality for not a huge payoff.

I am certain the jacket is leather and 99% certain it’s a real Johnson Leathers
I see. Then imma apologize to the seller and hope he didn't feel offended, it was all lack of experience of such cowhide before. Thank you for your insight!

I've tried a M.Mowbray's cream on my boots which made them super sticky and tacky feeling, probably because of the conditioner they used, but from looks that definitely looks like leather.
