I find it weird that Schott choses to have so many variations on their patterns. Why not keep it numerical to avoid all the confusion.

Funny you mentioned it. I did try on the MOS and SH.

Both jackets fit you very well. In my humble opinion, the 613 looks better on you. The front of the Vandals jacket is pretty busy compared to the 613.

They all look good on you, so there isn’t really a wrong choice. Best is to pick the most comfortable jacket.

I know you said your top two choices are 568 and p613s, but for me it would be between the 613sh and mos. If you like the all black look go for the mos, seems like it would be more comfortable than the heavy CXL p613s. The only thing that worries me about the mos is the cowboy in the background…

This is becoming like the unofficial jacket of TFL.

I checked it out because of a post by dannyk, then I posted about it, I think Tom got one after me, and so on.

Quite. @TooManyHatsOnlyOneHead got one before me and many since.

I have spoken to quite a few people who find Schott jackets underwhelming (and very knowledgeable people too!). I have to say, I get it to a large extent. (Too) Many leathers to chose from, (Too) many variations of the same jacket, sometimes with tweaks that just don’t work for a lot of folks (think elongating the Perfecto to a 27” length “so you can wear your shirt untucked“).

The 613SH is really the answer to all that (understandable) issues: traditional features (if you can live with the somewhat rigid back) and a very, very beautiful horsehide. Plus a rather contemporary silhouette that nods to the 1950’s models without being as extremely cropped and tapered.

I will try a 618HH eventually, when I have the chance to see it in the flesh), but for now, my choice is made.

Oh boy, I came here to choose between two, and now it’s between 3.

I did check out the PER 50. I don’t try it on, because it was somewhat overwhelming with the number to choose from and it didn’t tick any new boxes for me between the other stiff black biker jackets I tried on. Leather looked very nice though.

I would expect it to be market driven. 613 / 618 / 113 are like Levis 501s. They may have started out as a specific model number, but now it's more of a brand in itself. There will be folks as want a 613 - but in a particular configuration. It is what it is, I suppose.

Of the two, I prefer the Vandals jacket as a nicely done take on the D-pocket style. The Perfecto style of the 613 is a classic, but far easier to find great versions of it - and by a whole host of makers (if you're not determined that it *must* be a Schott label in there). If there's a deciding factor, I'd buy the Vandals one new, and wait for the right Perfecto to come up used.

I've never cared for the blacked-out look of black hardware on a leather jacket (in black or another colour of leather for that matter), but that's to personal taste.

sometimes with tweaks that just don’t work for a lot of folks (think elongating the Perfecto to a 27” length “so you can wear your shirt untucked“).

Ugh, I've seen so many variations on so many classics "cut for modern comfort" over the years, which invariably means elongating a jacket to match the sub-waist "waistband" of modern-cut jeans. Even a couple of inches can mess with the proportions of a jacket and throw the look off, on no style moreso than the Perfecto.

So i have had the p613s for about 5 months and I have worn it a lot, so let me give my ownership thoughts.
owning this thing is definitely a journey, it started out very stiff and uncomfortable particularly in the armholes, and it has been very slow and gradual to break in. I feel like I am making headway. Another odd feature of the jacket is that you literally have to warm it up. Every time you put it on, its stiff and then it releases after about 10 minutes. It does this even if you are outside in the snow and cold. I go from a 44 shoulder to a 32 waist, but I think the jacket handles that ok. It does pull on my shoulders though. There are a couple of spots where it is being to show teacore or somesuch, which adds to the cool factor. I wore this on a trip and i’ll tell you it was a bit of an issue wearing it all day every day. Not as comfortable as I would like, but it is improving.

Do I regret, would I do it again? I am thinking that maybe I should have gone with the Vandals or 613sh. Either of those would be much more comfortable by now. On the other hand this huge thick piece of armor seems to be improving slowly each and every day. So we shall see.
