How much rake?

How much rake do you like? Personally, I like a lot - especially with a C-crown. I'm talking like 4.25" crown height in the front and 3.5" in the back.

What era is a huge rake most indicative of? It seems like hats from the late 30s/early 40s had this feature. Am I right?

I would say that hats from the mid 40s to mid 50s typically had more of a difference in front/back height. A lot of them were C Crowns and Diamond Bashes. Ya gotta love the look on those.

My Disney probably has the greatest rake: 5"" in front, 3 1/4 in back.

A lot depends on the height of the open crown. The Federation should have great possibilities. :)

Personally I don't like rake at all. I prefer hats with the same height front and back. All my hats do have the same height. But that's just my personal taste...

The only hat I have with a lot of "rake" (or tugboat as I've heard it described) in it. It's my newest CD in Mid-Brown with 4 3/4" in front and 3 1/2" at back in a C-Crown crease. It came from the previous owner like this and I'm getting to like it :)
