I don't wear felt hats in the Summer but I sometimes will wear a black straw.

Fedoras as so far and few between and etiquette is so forgotten, that what colors during what season are the lest of our worry. As to straws, I am one of those who doesn't own one. I wear felts all year long (heck the cowboys dun did it). I have most every color (not white and green) so I am in pretty good shape with lighter colored felts for the summer.

I say to each his own within reason on when to wear felts and what colors.

Well you CAN wear it, but I wouldn't - as I'm sure you know, black absorbs heat more than any color. So if I was going to wear a felt hat in summer (which I'll admit, I often do), black would be the last color I'd wear. -M

I dont wear any black, and most dark colors, during the summer for that very reason. Only light colored clothes for me.
