Jeremy Brett-Sherlock Holmes Top Hat-How Tall?

One Too Many
I started an identical thread in 'hats' but evidently there are no Holmes fans reading it.
Here's something useless: How tall was Jeremy Brett's top hat worn in his portrayal of Sherlock Holmes? (The defining characterization, for many of us).
In some shots it looks relatively short, perhaps less than 6". Anyone know?

The ruins of the golden era.
Judging by this, loungers would you say 8 inches?

It's a matter of inches

The consensus on the companion thread in "Hats" is 6". I have a 7" topper and it looks very, very tall when actually worn, even though it looks like the prototypical top hat when on display. Similarly, the 5.5" looks a little short on a table but looks very similar to the Jeremy Brett top hat when worn. The 6" is the betting favorite.

Actually finding a silk plush top hat over 6" is not an easy task.

We can hope someone in the Lounge has either a friend in the costuming department for the old production or a pair of calipers and a lot of time.
