Was in the LGS a while back and this end of USA production Marbles Ideal 7" blade NIB was just laying on the shelf! Got it for a song. Got it home and made a new shoe for it!

Hoping to find myself a nice traditional pocket-knife for my upcoming birthday, but in the meantime, I picked up this doovalackey at the local thrift-shop. It's got an ivory handle and a weird blade. Made by Joseph Rodgers & Sons in England during the reign of George V. Was made sometime between 1911-1929 (can't be more precise than that).

Does anybody have ANY idea what this type of knife would've been used for? So far as I can tell, the blade has not been altered, and it came with its original sheath.

Someone suggested it was a scalpel from a surgical kit from the WWI-era. I'm not entirely convinced.

The blade is a little different, but I have seen a couple of these knives offered as an "ink scraper" or "ink eraser."

I don't think it's an ink-scraper. I've seen LOADS of ink-scrapers. The size and shape of the blade just doesn't match.

Found out what it is! It's a gardener's budding knife. For pruning and budding new shoots in trees and plants How cute!!
