Any ideas as to the age of this Genuine Panama from Lamson Hubbard?

The Koch Brothers clothing store in Allentown PA filed for bankruptcy in 1957 and passed into history after 81 years of business.

In 1924, the Hudson's Bay Company, a larger and more established company, acquired Lamson & Hubbard.

I was surprised at the rich history of Panama hats. In 1906, President Theodore Roosevelt was photographed wearing a Panama hat while inspecting the construction of the Panama Canal. This iconic image significantly contributed to the hat's global popularity. While the hat is called a "Panama hat", it's actually traditionally made in Ecuador.

Looking more closely through the ads provided by @DaveProc, “Panamas” showed up in 1902 and continued through 1916. His ads stopped in 1917 and it is unknown to me if there are later ads.

I have one similar to this from Lamson and Hubbard. Never had any hard evidence to date it.. my best guess was late 40s to 50s. Interestingly the weaving process for these true Panama bodies is the same today as it was then. You can get the same quality weaves today…. on some of those finer weaver though…. You might not want to think about the cost to replace one of these today.

I always enjoy seeing your “The Colonel” :). My guess is our hats have similar production dates. Does yours have a union tag?
