Hey guys, I just stumbled upon this beautiful Langlitz Leather Columbia Jacket. Seller said he bought it with his Harley in the 70’s.

I’m pretty interested in it but I am not sure about the price he offered is worth it or not.

Some insights and opinions on the price and jacket would be wholeheartedly appreciated!

Thank you!

That jacket is really nice. Did the owner buy it new in the 70s? I woulda guessed an earlier jacket. Looks like their old cowhide too. $375 or so USD is a great price imo. If you like it and it fits, I don’t think you can go wrong.

Unless it smells like cigarette smoke, dirty socks and BO.

JMax is right - just ask first about odor and possible stains. I had to sell one off due to a heavy smoke odor which I do not care for at all.

Leather looks great on this one and these jackets - when broken in as this one is, are Comfortable to wear. Just also be aware that many of the Columbia's have a pretty deep taper, so they can fit good in the shoulders & pit to pit - but are very tight in the waist if you have a couple extra pounds around there. Let's just say I know through experience :)

Thanks JMax! Yes the owner claimed that he bought it new. I’m glad it’s a good price, I tried to look for the same mode released in 1970s but I don’t see too many sales on Ebay (Is there anywhere I can see past sales too?)

For the odor thing, I really gotta ask! I hope it is fine

Thank you for the insights! The leather still looks very new and nicely broken in

I have broad shoulders and at W32, I hope it will fit me well! Will post some fit pics when it arrives!

If it fits, you did very well. If it does not, you will do well too, as you should be able to get about $150-200 USD more for it than you paid. :)

It’s $500 CAD! Is it a good price?
If the fit is great on you, it's a good price.

100% right. And getting the right fit in a used Langlitz is a bit of a crapshoot because they were made to fit a specific person’s measurements rather than a typical graded size. If the original owner had broad shoulders and a narrow waist like you, then it might feel like the jacket was custom-made for you. In any case I agree that at that price it is worth a try, as long as the sellers posted measurements look good to you.
