I saw these Schott wool crosszips from Japan (there were more variants but these were the ones that caught my eyes) and my mind was blown. Marc has one several pages back. Ditching the leather for the wool now.

My latest wool piece, a Schaefer cattle baron vest.

I'm not a fan of the taffeta lining and wool isn't the most densely milled, but it's a good piece.
They're normally about $150 I think, that's not terrible considering what's available today but I'm not sure I'd have been happy at that price.
From C&C sutlery out if Idaho I can get a vest in the same style made to order for maybe $120 shipped and it'll be made from a better quality wool, thinner but better quality.

Thankfully there's a bunch of these in small brand new for under $50 right now.

Maybe they're returns or the size was discontinued and liquidated ?
They don't seem to be factory seconds.

Is anyone on the forum familiar with the PIONEER Sportswear brand? They operated in Canada and produced all kinds of sportswear in the mid-20th century.

I know pioneer wear out of Albuquerque New Mexico, but am not familiar with Pioneer sportswear.

My familiarity with Canadian outerwear is extremely limited though , the only Canadian outerwear brand I'm familiar with is Codet.

Not sure if this thread is dead or just sleeping but I thought I’d share my current wool collection. Left to right early 50s 545 woolrich hunting jacket, double breasted half belt mackinaw unknown manufacturer and era, and a great western with detachable belt also unknown era since the zipper has been replaced. I love this old heavy wool, it’s easily my favorite outwear fabric. Perfect for our midwestern winters. I can provide additional photos of any of them if there’s interest.

Does anyone know a brand who makes a wool jacket similar to this Real Mccoys?:

Or someone who could make this or similar custom for me.
I would buy this Real Mccoys jacket, but the measurements don't make sense for me.

Great vests, I got three used, all at great prices - one identical to yours, a brown herringbone without the lapels, and a beefier one in a light brown / dark tan sans lapels with the leather trimmed slash pockets. Personally I wouldn't want thicker or warmer ones, and I wear them under wool coats or alone over a long sleeve shirt. I like the Taffeta, I have no complaints with the way Nylon performs, as on the waxed jacket from them that I also love and wear a lot.

Sugarcane makes a similar wool jacket.

I’d wait around and check next season when winter is near for their next possible release.
